I noticed that the membrane in a couple of the eggs that went to day 21 were white and rubbery, and kind of thick. They died at about day 19-20. I could see that if the humidity is too low, the membrane would dry out and oxygen would not flow between the shell and the chick. All the more reason to bump it up a bit, I guess.
keeping my fingers crossed for you, Jean! I got a call from Ideal yesterday about the fact that they're done with the Dorkings for this year, but I stayed on the waiting list, so I'll be at the top of the list for next season.
I have 3 SGDs (one in the incubator, two under a Silkie) that are about a week away from hatch date, so
for me, too. The
seem to be doing well (smaller airsac, movement), so I'm hopeful that I'll maybe get one more.
I had 9 SGDs and 6 GLW eggs shipped from Nebraska that took a week to get here... all but one is clear, and the one has a bloodring.
There's $30 I'll never see again.
