Just got 4 hens a few days ago. They are laying 3 a day, so that's pretty good, but wondering why the eggs are getting lighter in color. Thanks for reading!

My Barred Rocks and New Hampshire Reds lay eggs with some variation in actual shade. I have gotten a couple of white eggs over the past year. I think that it is simply a novel variation that we find once we get away from the standard washed store egg.

Someone of them laid an egg the size of a robin's egg the other day. I guess the phone rang or something.

The color of our RIR hen's eggs vary more than any other breed. One lays eggs from tan to light brown eggs, the other lays light to medium brown ones.

Thank you for the replies. Was concerned it was the feed or something. Today, we're back to brown. But they all were laying light yesterday. Bizarre.
