I know I don't post much, but I really enjoy this site and all the wonderful people on here. I've learned so much and met so many nice people.

But, I'm wondering - whyyyyy do some people think that an auction is the proper form to critisize the Seller's birds? If you don't like the comb, color, feet or all around type, don't bid and keep your mouth shut!!!!! Somehow I doubt they would have the nerve to do this in person, so why do they feel the need to do it online? It's downright rude! The place for those comments is in the "breeding/show your birds" type forums.

Just my two cents cuz' it's really been bugging me.

The internet is so harsh

There are no perfect birds. As long as the listing is honest, who cares what the birds look like, the bidding will tell the real story.

So... if someone is stealing something from a store, you wouldn't say something to someone about it. You would just let the crime occur?

Same thing with misrepresentated birds, or other products. I've seen it time, and time again. Someone advertises their 'Show Quality [insert breed here]', and all these unsuspecting beginners spend their hard earned money thinking they are getting something worth breeding. When they really aren't getting anything more than 'Soup Quality.'

X2, kind of. If somebody is selling a bird advertised as SQ, but it's really not, it's good for a more knowlogable person to jump in there and say"Actually, that bird is PQ, and the reasons why are xxxxxxx."
But if you just don't like a breed, or whatever, I agree: Just shut it.

You know I used to show horses when I was a kid. Its the same in every breed specific hobby dogs, cats, goats.... you name it. Especially when there is conformation to breed type to consider. Each person has their own opinion. I learned early on to accept peoples pride and joy no matter how deficient or inbred or sad.

The only time I speak up is with the care, feeding and handling of any animal. If the animal is living on dandiloin fluffs and appears hale happy and hearty I wont say a word, but if they are thin for what ever reason I will speak up gently at first because there are times where there is a cause out of the control of the owner. If thats not the case I make some gentle suggestions. Same goes for care, and handling.

But in all cases I use education not ridicule if possible, and only on a personal forum not a public one.

And in the case of chickens....LOL I havent the right to do anything but ask questions.

You would talk to the store manager privately (BYC Staff via PM or report) and not confront the suspect.
You would also realize that the store has rules and guidelines

Like #2 and it is the customers responsibility to be aware of them.
