So this might be kinds dumb, but I know chickens use grit to crush up their food in their crops, and I know geese also need grit, but I was curious, since they have teeth doesn't the teeth break down their food? What's the point of grit?

The point of grit is that it used as a grinding agent in the gizzard. Without grit they cannot grind their food fine enough for it to digested.

Geese do not have teeth. Their bills have sharp serrated edges that help them grasp and cut grass, and ridges running along the interior edge of the bill acting as sieves straining out vegetable matter - and grit - from water.

That makes more sense, thank you for the explanation!
