Why do people hate the swallows?

I love 'em. They nest on our porch evey year. My in-laws however, hate 'em. They don't like cleaning the poop off their porch. They tear down the nests as fast as the birds can build. They need to come over and spend time in the chicken run, maybe they would become accustom to the poop!

They poop a lot, and mites may leave the nest after the young fledge and fly away. I love them! They eat lots of mosquitoes and other flying insects, and are just fun to watch fly. To solve the mite problem, spray the nest with insecticide when the young leave it and problem is solved. They will also gang up on cats or other predators.

I love them the way they fly, dive bomb the cats or other birds not of their own species and chickens lOL!

I had them in the old cow barn, lovely birds! And under neath the pillars of the front porch, which Mom doe snot like them there but she waits until the babies are gone and she would knock them off and clean up.

The only time I knock down their nests are when they insist on building on my front porch where they poop all over right in front of my front door. We've got plenty of barns and other out buildings they can go use. I don't hate them....just don't want them on my porch.
