Why do people just show up your house?

I would make them go home and call to set up an appointment. Might lose a sale that way though!

So you advertise and sell from your property?

But you don't want un-invited, un- announced visitors.

Sorry but those two ideas seem to be an oxymoron.

I liken that to taking an for sale ad out in the local paper, and then being bothered by the phone when it rings, with people responding to the ad.

You gonna sell your stuff from your home or you are going to protect your privacy. One or the other will work.

Pineapplemomma

Door lock. You ain't got none?

Gosh!
You guys ain't got no friends that just show up for a visit? You know-- the buddy driving by and he sees you in the pasture, stops to holler at you. Happens here all the time, friends, neighbors or folks just wanting to chat. Bye and large never had a problem with any one who walked up openly in the daytime. It's them folks that slip around in the night that you got to be on gaurd for, and ain't no sign, or fence gonna keep them out.

Hmm... what if you put the legal (for your state) definition of trespassing in big ol' letters? For us that would be

§ 30.05. CRIMINAL TRESPASS. (a) A person commits an
offense if he enters or remains on or in property, including an
aircraft or other vehicle, of another without effective consent or
he enters or remains in a building of another without effective
consent and he:
(1) had notice that the entry was forbidden; or
(2) received notice to depart but failed to do so.

Hmm... bit long winded really, and that doesn't even include all the definitions and whatnot.

Maybe you could just sum it up?

NO TRESPASSING.

Per Texas Code § 30.05

If I don't know that you were coming we can't have given you Oral or Written Permission for this visit.

Our fence is designed to exclude intruders from trespassing, aka Notice of Forbidden Entry.

Our gate is designed to exclude intruders from trespassing, aka Notice of Forbidden Entry.

This sign is another notice of forbidden entry AND a Notice To Depart.

Should you ignore these and trespass you will be taking your own life, and criminal record, into your own hands.

YES, We Mean YOU

Anyone think guilt would work?? Maybe a "Please do not violate the sanctity of our home?"

Naw... criminals don't care about your feelings else they wouldn't BE criminals... darn.

Hey, anyone have signs in anything other than English? I was thinking maybe go all the way around alternating English, Spanish, German, French, etc. That should make it rather obvious no? Anyone even seen a sign in anything other than English? Suppose you could make your own...

Edit... did find an English AND Spanish one... http://static.emedco.com/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/5e06319eda06f020e43594a9c230972d/Bilingual-Security-Signs-44368BBVPLYALU-ba.jpg

Edit
again... Good Grief but do they think I want everyone to know that my Grown Hubby is a WoW addict?

Sorry but I don't see it that way, our adds list what is for sale and a phone# and "call for details" During the 'call for details" part we clearly tell people to call before you come over so we can put the dogs up. Seems pretty straight forward and easy to me.

Hey, this popped in my head... whatcha think? Sarcastic enough?

I know what you're thinking. "Did he say they put the bull in the front or the back pasture" Well, to tell you the truth, in all this excitement I kind of lost track myself. But being as this is a 3000lb Angus, the most powerful mammal in the farm, and would snap your head clean off, you've got to ask yourself one question: Do I feel lucky? Well, do ya, punk?
