Why do so many of you buy so many chicks?

I couldn't imagine not having at least 25 chickens. I have 70+, but I have the room for them. I am mad because I want more,but I have to find space to build another couple of hen houses that will hold about 50 more....then I will be happy for about another year maybe 2......and like they say. You see different breeds and think, Man, I have to have those and then before you know it, you see another 4 breeds that you think the same thing about and before you know it....well you get the picture... lol

Funny what you say about having to have a breed!! I just added 2 polish to my order because I just had to have one of those with the funny hats!! Now i am up to 8!!​

LOL, just ordered the 25 count Ornamental Layer Collection from Murray McMurray( + 1 FREE rare exotic chick & 4 FREE living packing peanuts{cockerels} !!!

this will bring the guaranteed number of pullets on our little farm up to 56!!

Can't wait to see what they send us!

The impression i get is that chicken math can be described as sort of a scientific law. Once you begin chicken ownership you will move towards owning as many chickens as you can legally have. Once you have achieved that limit you may or may not check with the neighbors to see if they will rat you out. You may or may not buy more regardless.

I'm allowed 12 and only have 6. They are fun to have though. Easier to deal with than dogs, kids or spouses most of the time.

And some of us become so obsessed that we actually have to hire some one to help us care for them!

At least I made a few dollars more than I had to pay out yesterday. So worth it and I wasn't totally wore out by the end of the day. Brooders clean, duck pools clean, another pen finished......yup, so very worth it.

Now to make more money to cover it again.
