Why do so many of you (us) want roosters?

Can you keep all roosters together if there are not any hens? I actually purchased my chicks as a destresser. I have visions of just sitting with my chicks after a day of work, watching them peck around enjoying nature. Although my purchase was SUPPOSE to be pullets, I know I have one roo..possibly 3, possibly 5. Being a first-time chick owner, I am not sure at all. I look at combs, I look at tails, I look at legs. Now, if I go by legs, I have ONE that has thinner legs. All the rest look thick to me.

Now, if I only have 2 roos, I'm not averse to one of the meaner ones as meat but if it is five of them, I don't want to choose. They can probably provide just as much entertainment as hens.

a) chicks- how cool to hatch your own pets!
b) protection- awesome if you have a good roo.
c) pretty colors!

Unfortunatly, (can't you just HEAR me snap out of dreamland?) we can't have roos here in suburbia...

Why I have roos...
Protection for my hens
They are beautiful
Love to here them crow
and
Eventually blue orp and BLRW fertile eggs and chicks....

But the crowing while I'm sittin of the porch talking to someone on the phone is my favorite part. Everyone gets a big kick out of it....even me!

Oh yeah, the crowing brings back great childhood memories too!
