Why do some geese do this?

this gander would not let go of this other goose’s back and then finally the goose layed on his belly and the gander had him in a what looked like a wrestling position. He kept pecking/biting at the goose’s neck and the goose just layed there and didn’t fight back. The gander finally got off of him. Why do some geese do this to other geese?

They’re simply just mating.

I don’t really know but it looks like some dominance thing. I saw my first Canada Geese in New Zealand this year/last year while on a train. They were out in a paddock.

I’m not sure if they migrate as in the bird guide book I got in NZ it says they were introduced. They also had wild mallards, there was one with ducklings at one place we went to.
