Why do some people use gloves when handling chickens?

I've seen pictures all over BYC of people handling their chickens /chicks with gloves. Why? It's not like it's going to peck your face off lol

Maybe there chickens are from the wrong side of the coop

I don't use gloves, but i'm guessing they don't like scratches all over their arms. When i'm don't things they don't like (clipping their wings, etc) i get quite a few scratches! I like being able to feel their feathers.

Maybe the chickens are pecking them and it hurts. Maybe the people have a weakened immune system and cannot take any chances with catching something. Maybe they are trying to maintain biosecurity. Or maybe, just maybe, jbiz is right!
