Why do you like where you live?

Biggest thing I like about here in LS is the peace and quiet up where I'm at. Now, understand, I'm up off the main roads, up at the end of a dirt driveway, so I'm not in a standard Lithia Springs neighborhood. Nonetheless, I do enjoy getting out once in a while. The local music cafe has live music almost every weekend, and has become a pretty popular teen hangout. Gives kids a place to be, instead of out in the streets waving guns and stuff like that.

I like where I live because it's mine. LOL I would much rather live near a natural water source and big tree's. I grew up in Northern and central california but have lived here for 14 yrs. It is growing on me and I love the space I have., But would love to live in the mountains somewhere.

Thanks lori....i will try that when i go out again. I hope it lasts for a while and does not wear right off.

You might think i would be like a pro at this.....Feb will be 40 years of it.

I wish I could say that I love where I live, but:
1. the ground in the horse paddocks has been so compacted by constant use that the water doesn't run off into the pond anymore -- it can't get out of the paddocks.
2. the septic field takes up nearly 1/3 of the property, limiting what I can do with a very large segment of my land -- no horses, no fences, no anything that will compact the soil and/or punch holes into the septic system.
3. with only 5 acres and neighbors all around my views of the countryside are blocked, and I'm limited on how many chickens I might place in the area over the septic field.
4. although I'm only minutes away from 2 freeways, and 6 miles from a growing city, it still takes forever to get anywhere (not by So Cal standards, but by mine) -- it's 30 minutes to drop my daughter off at Mom's Day Out, 30 minutes to get back, leaving very little time to actually accomplish anything in my "free" time before having to go get her.
5. I'm from out West, humidity is something I only had to deal with in Hawaii (no problems with it there, mind you) -- at least until golf took over the desert regions and introduced humidity to places that never had it before (there were times when Reno felt like Houston...in the fall or winter). I HATE the heat & humidity combo, though in TN's defense, the summers here ain't as bad as Houston.
6. my daughter needs family around her. My friends who said they would fill in the gap haven't been able to do it. My family is all out West and rarely make the effort to visit. For her sake, I need to move us closer to where they are....but here we have an awesome school system that can help with her speech and language needs........

I will say that Middle TN is a great place to live if you aren't me. I've been here 11 years, basically in the same city, which says a lot -- I'd never spent more than 5 years in one place before. I love the trees, the fall colors, the creeks and rivers, all the things that remind me of growing up in a small town in No Cal. The people here are friendly, the schools are excellent, there is a huge variety of things to do -- if you need to live near a big city I highly recommend Williamson County.

Scenic wise there is nothing to like in south western Mich. It is nothing but scrub and farmland. We have no great mountains or anything. I have lived here all my life so I have gotten used to it. Not all Mich is bad scenic wise. Northern Mich and the U.P. is very nice. Scenic drives near the great Lakes are very beautiful. Unfortunately Mich is a very bad place to be right now-economic wise and alot of people are moving out. We have beautiful forests further north and I consider our Mackinac bridge one of greatest wonders. Granted I am scared to death to go over it but it is a great site to see it as you come up to it. The Mighty Mac spans the lower and upper peninsulas and covers 5 miles of over water! People who have never seen it say it is another bridge but I say "no it is not another bridge." I would consider out Great Lakes our greatest treasures and we are very protective where our water goes. I heard Mich has the most shoreline in the U.S., only Alaska has a greater shoreline than us.

Kingscalls, you're killing me! My gparents live in a small town called Telford in Northeastern TN. Some of my best childhood memories are spending time with them there and camping at Rock Creek Park in the Appalacians. A place where you can stick anything in the ground and it just grows without even trying (and is green) must be heaven! Someday that's where I want to be.....

As far as here in the Sonoran Desert, it can be difficult to find anything to love between the months of May-November when its a zillion degrees and you have to stay holed up with the A/C blasting and sell your 1st born to pay your electric bill. But then I look out my back door and see this....

....and then I remember why I love it here. The beauty of the desert definately grows on you. And the 60-70 degree winters ain't bad either!

We moved here a little over a year ago from South-Western Ontario.
It was a life long dream come true.

We have 3 acres on the outskirts of a small City. I can buy anything we need 10 min. away. The Ocean is a 45 min drive. I'm looking at a beautiful view of Mount Baker as I type this.

There is a nice beach a 5 min drive where I can take my dogs, a picnic (with beer LOL) and enjoy a sunny afternoon.

I miss alot of my family and friends in ontario but the internet makes for easy daily communication (I watched my grandkids in Ont open Christmas gifts via webcam)

i live where my dad grew up.
a farm everywhere around with a junkyard to the left.
i love the country.
everyone where i live is cool with the chickens and theres a dog
daycare across the street.
its quiet, and even though our house inst the best, it good
for what we have, and all a 14 yr. old really needs
we have enough space between neighbors, but wish we had more space for the chickens
but we may be "renting" the empty feild next to us, were already using a tiny bit of it. and the farmer who owns it, is my possible summer job boss. well him and his wife but 'eh.
i live in my own little paradise

I will be purely honest as I can be. I reay dislike this area. To much development where we ive and the only thing good is my one neighbor. TO many accident $@%!% people speed past and 1 biker died at the intersection just as we where moving in " I am deathy afraid to cross it when I go down to the bar or to the town hall." There is a truck area where 18 wheelers drive past our house at night so I only get about 3 hours of sleep. There is no peope my age around here. I am technicaly the protector of the kids around here. I am known as big brother. Taxes is way to much and apartments cost about $2,000 a month and buying a house with at east 1/2 an acre under $150,000 is very very rare

Guess thats about it. Now you can see why I am looking to move to another state with farming and lots of and lol.
