Why does everyone hate Roo's

I LOVE my Roos!!

I have plenty to. I have even recently, last week, took three maran mix roos, because they were up for adoption, so to speak. Don't get me wrong I LOVE my hens also, for the obvious reason. But I think the roos are my fav. I also have some Buff Orp Roos, Barred Rock Roos, Turken Roos, RIR Roos? not sure they are just babies, and the cutiest little floppy combed White Leghorn Roos, Oh, Yeah almost forgot I got some Easter Eggers To!!! Oh, and two Mystery Roos! They were give to me too! I would like to apologize to my chickens if I have left anyone out. Oh, Wait some Banty Babies probably at least one will be a Roo.

I actually love roos better than hens. They are prettier IMO. Until earlier today (when I sold about 10 and around 5 roo chicks) I had more roos than hens. LOL

....and I bought another roo after selling all those LOL

We've had some great roos and they are beautiful. It's just that feed is expensive and if you have a secure area for the hens and you are not breeding then they don't really have a purpose.

Wow. I hope human society doesn't catch on to this!

Would LOVE to have a roo. They're SO pretty!!! But I don't think my neighbors would agree....

I don't think that it is a case of anyone hating roos at all, but it's very hard when you have a hatch and get 7 roos out of 20 eggs because it's not fair to the roo to ask them to live against their nature by having them coexist with so many other roos. If you have separate pens so each roo can have his only family and privacy then that isn't the case. You also have to look at where you live, are they allowed? Will they cause problems with the neighbors? Will you be asked to give them up or move? It's not a hate for the roo, it's the situations that come along with the roo, he can't help it, it's up to us to work with it to the best of our ability.

I don't mind the crowing at all. I have a couple of roosters and they seem to have a crowing contest. One is learning to crow right now and it is so funny. I thought my small dog was in trouble and was looking for her when I discovered he was learning to crow. I have a couple more but they are too young to crow. The only reason I dn't want many roos is I just want them for protection for the hens and chicks when I want to incubate. One of my roos is very rough on the girls and he is in his own pen right now. I just don't need to have to fed more than what I can. With Lady the mighty Lab and the roos the hens are safe.

i love mike the rooster i just hate when he trys to mate with the girls in front of me hes getting to the point that he knows when im there no action and i love him hes sweet and hes surrounded by 13 ladies that keeps him calm until i leave lol

I love my BO roo.... i dont like my black orpington roo though hes kinda crazy lol... but i dont hate him one bit.. i love my RIR roo chick too

Sometimes i would rather have a roo from the breed such as Silver Phoenix cause the ROOS are so much prettier than the hens.

I plan to love my big barnyard roo until the moment he flogs or spurs me. Then I plan to love him in a casserole.

*wink*

I was always a roo hater until someone gave us our roo. He seems docile and friendly....have had him for 6 months and no sign of bad behavior. But, the moment he acts up....he's all done...

Its a safety issue really.
