Why does everyone hate Roo's

I love roos. If I could have a whole flock of them, I would. I used to have five and they lived all together.

But they crow a lot, eat a lot, and can get into scuffles... The day I came home to find my favorite roo's white feathers all red from blood from fighting, I knew I had to rehome the rest of the crew.

I plan on getting a roo for all of the girls I have (12 total). If anyone has a problem with the noise, I won't have a problem reminding them of their constantly BARKING dogs!!

We just hate the mean, noisy roosters. Everybody likes to look at nice, noisy rooster.

Oh, gosh, I love my roosters and it breaks my heart I have to re-home some of them. Stupid neighbors don't appreciate the crowing. I think each rooster's voice and crow is like music. Not melodious, but certainly pleasant. Well, maybe not when one of 'em crows right next to me, standing on the railing so his crowing is right in my ear....

I got over my concern about eating large fowl roosters although it took quite a bit of work in my head to do so. Raised healthy and happy, had good (if short) lives, humanely killed and processed, and nourishing to my body. I do have somebody else do The Deed, though. Maybe someday I can handle it. They were only processed because I had so many roosters; if nobody complained, I would not have culled any of them. However, I do have some large fowl roosters which will never be processed. Ever.

I have a slew of bantam roosters, too - great little fellows one wouldn't consider eating, as that would be too much trouble with so little meat. Love 'em all. I have to find homes for some of them. If I was on large enough property, I would not get rid of any of my roosters for any reason. They're such funny little men in feather suits. This photo is of Hitchcock (the top rooster) and Alex. They're two of 10 currently on my property. (I had 20.) Nugget is directly below them and you can't see how gorgeous HE is.

I love my roo too. I will be so sad when he is gone.He has been so well behaved with the girls and us humans.Yeah he crows.Sometimes he crows a lot,but it is no worse than the yappers all day long.Darn shame dogs get a free pass, but I gotta worry about my roo getting evicted after one complaint. Good roos are awesome.

Is it true that everyone hates roos? Or did you just make that up? You have some statistics to show us?

I think it's just based on personal experience with living in or near cities.

I don't think any breeder out there hates roosters, I certainly don't. My family prefers hens often, they just like their gracefulness and they're kinda sexist anyway, but me, I love my boys equally and have lots of them.
