I have been trying to sell some ducks for almost a month now, and have lowered the price mutliple times, why is it that they are hard to get rid of? I dont want to resort to giving them away for free, but I really do need to get rid of some. I put them on craigslist, and on here, I have tried without pictures, and with them. Does anyone have any more ideas to get rid of them?

Well it depends on the area, time of year, price, etc etc. What kind are they? I find the bigger ones easier to sell because people will buy them for meat. Now if your not comfortable selling birds knowing there for the stew pot......well then it will be a harder sell.

They are khaki campbells, and black swedish/ buff duck mixed. Also a pekin drake, and I beilieve its up to the people if they choose to eat their ducks, yes it makes me feel kind of bad to sell to someone when i've raised them from babies, but I really need to downsize before winter. They are 2 months old, 6 months old, and 7 months old.

Well the khakis I would put down they are good layers, and the rest would be good pets or meat birds (if your ok with that of course). If they have been handled and are tame, put that down too. Many people like to have a duck or two as a backyard or pond pet.

Look for autions for animals around your home town. Animals go cheep, but usually fast. It also helps to sell them as a group, not just one at a time in auctions. Sorry there isn't anymore I can do. I personally believe that ducks are difficult to sell because most people don't want to take care of a duck. Maybe raise them as babies and set them free at a pond where they believe they are "safe, but when it comes to ducks as adults most people choose chickens over them. I haven't a clue why. Also adult animals are hard to sell. For reasons that also escape me. People that DO want to take care of ducks want to raise them from chicks. That and the fact that shipping is just a huge pain and almost impossible with adult birds makes them a hard seller. Sorry, I would totally take your kakis in a heart beat as I'm looking for more egg layers but you are too far. Best of luck <3

This is just my Opinion where I live... "Regular" Duck (Mallard types.. ) are VERY hard to sell here.. Even sometimes calls are.. The ONLY breed of ducks I could sell 50-100 a week would be Muscovys... but I never have as many as I can sell lol, I usually put them on CL and they are gone the same day... But for some reason ducks are very hard to sell for me also..

Could you try Kijiji (Ebay Classified) Not everyone looks on there but hey, its worth a try!

I have the same problem. Been trying to sell my runner ducklings and now htey are ~7 weeks old. I have posted them on BYC for free. Still have them on craigslist for $5 each but still. Its ridiculous.

There are no more auctions around me until spring, there should be a poultry swap coming up soon but I havent been able to find anything about it, or I would be getting a spot to sell them at.
