Why does our 2 day old duckling shake when he eats his mush.

Whenever he eats he shakes, and we had to dip his beak in water to show him. So we decided to turn his food into mash (we mashed it up and added water) and he still shakes.... is this normal?

Usually ducks will kinda shake their head from side to side a bit when eating or drinking but that's not what he's doing.. This is a bit seizure like isn't it?

He's trying to swallow, jerking his head back to try to get the food to the back of the throat.

Do you only have one duckling? Ducks are very social. He's going to want a buddy!

Yes there is some water in there, but he doesn’t always goes to drink it after.. even though we mixed water with the food I’m not sure if he is alright... I’m totally new to this stuff so I have no idea what is normal and what isn’t

My last ducklings I got ate much better when I wet their food. I only did it the first few days because they were so tiny when I got them and were struggling to get it down. I mixed it wetter than that though. Only took a few days (maybe 3 at most) and they were eating it dry.
