Wheres the number to call those folks??![]()
There's where I agree and also do. But honestly, raw meat isn't what humans are used to. And, even with the truth that it does have more enzymes for digestion, in most cases it just isn't very safe. For dogs it's a bit of a different story though. But even then, I always freeze the meat before feeding it.I live in Thailand and regularly eat raw buffalo, beef, freshwater fish, and even chicken (something I would never do in UK where I am from). Also pork that has been fermented for several days raw in a pot buried in the ground. (but its then cooked just before you eat it).
I also eat the famous dancing shrimps. These are small freshwater shrimps that are still alive when you eat them. You have to be quick or they will jump about all over the place if you don't give them a good shake in the pot will the chilli and fermented fish sauce!
Raw meat is more natural to eat - but I still enjoy fried chicken! It is also very safe as long as its fresh, or frozen from fresh.
I also feed my dog raw meat.
The only raw meat to avoid is pork, because it often contains tapeworm and other parasites that will then infect us - maybe a good way to loose weight!
Actually, you should be quite careful with raw seafood. Its not uncommon for folks to get parasites (particularly from poorly handled or home caught that has not been cooked thouroughly or kept at a cold enough temperature long enough.), and if you get roundworms, you can die. The roundworms can travel into your brain and thats a big problem, I actually knew someone who died from that. Another person I know of (co-worker of spouse) died from a parasite he contracted while visiting family in mexico, but I am unsure as to what the mode of transmission was. (May have been contaminated water or food.)
