Why don't people listen... Rant

Well, her new coop arrived. It's made by roost and root. It's the round top model. While it's a definite improvement, I'm not sure how good it's going to be in the bitter cold. The closed in area on the left are nest boxes, the one on the right is the roost area. However, there's no bottom to the roost area, and no venting. The metal roof is only a couple feet higher than the roost. The white panels are removable during the warmer months. The last two photos are the roost area.

It is an improvement but probably very expensive for what it is.
The cold won't be the issue the lack of ventilation is.
Why do they put so much money, effort and space into unneeded nest boxes.

Very expensive. They start at $4700...

People should look into learning a bit of elementary carpentry.
You can easily build one twice the size and better design for a quarter that price.

I offered to convert a shed if she purchased one. Obviously she didn't accept.

Not everyone can physically build a coop even if they understand carpentry.

I can't deny a person the freedom to become chickenteer.

Why not?
Okay, I'm from a different culture and have a different view, but, we legislate against people doing harm to animals in Europe. It isn't always effective but at least the intent to guard other species from human mistreatment is there.
It really doesn't work hoping and praying that people will do the right thing, or even listen to advice; they just don't. You have to force people to behave in an acceptable manner. It's part of the reason we have laws.
