Why don't people listen... Rant

When speaking to this particular lady I have to bite my tongue so much it's a wonder I can still talk! She informed me that in the winter you're only supposed to feed your chickens cracked corn... and that the reason I don't get as many eggs has nothing to do with daylight, but it's because I have failed to add pepper flakes to their water.
And in fact, if your flock is healthy, they don't molt at ALL. Ever. Molting is a sign of poor nutrition.....:th
Yeah this gal's a real hoot..:he
Yeah! Brains are awesome. I really wish everybody had one…

You know I always want to jump in to defend us young folks, then I realize I'm not really so young anymore. I will say that as a former teacher, there are good and bad apples in every group. I've had students of every age who are eager to learn, conscientious, and responsible.
The stragglers sometimes grow into their better qualities, sometimes they don't. Some people have a frustrating inability to listen to or care about others, and this is more frustrating when they are teens/young adults who think they know everything. It's not like there aren't older adults like that too. I know a lot more about some things, for example, computers, than my mother does. Does she believe me when I warn her about scams? Nope.
The world is different now than it used to be, but I have a hard time believing people are all that different.
I'm not saying young people! I observe this in people of all ages: The more they are addicted to social media like Fakebook, Squatter, WhatSucks or text-messages the shorter is their attention-period and the weaker are their abilities to understand and speak in full sentences. Made a joke once and one of the colleagues said LOL instead of laughing…

Agree! I don't think this has anything to do with age. In fact, the problem lady I had who never took my advice and never wanted to do her own research on chickens is close to 50. Laziness, stupidity and ignorance comes in all ages. Some people get wiser as they age, others don't. I see it in the work place too.

Wow. That might be the most passive aggressive way to acknowledge a joke but not laugh I've ever heard. That's maybe one step short of booing.
I deleted most of my social media when I started teaching. From what I hear that was a good decision.

That colleague also celebrated her 1,000nd FakeBook »friend« :idunno
And she is talking in emoticons the whole day, for example she says »wink« or »smile« when she says something funny.

Client wanted chickens.
Client?

The problem is that people nowadays expect to get all the necessary info within 160 characters (SMS/Squatter) which won't work. Any longer text will start to fade away after the 161st letter and
:lol::gig:lau

What doesn't help is the amount of misinformation about poultry on the internet...especially in Facebook poultry groups where anybody with a keyboard is an expert.
That's true on any social media, including BYC..... and has been since email lists and bulletin boards(if anyone's old enough to know what those are).

Being old enough to remember the use-net groups, i remember that any BS-poster was quickly subdued by reasonable members. The difference to the current social media (excluding BYC!) is that there seems to be more BS being posted than any amount of reasonable people can cope with.
Plus, i hear that all the time: "That must be true, i found it in Fakebook|WookiePedia|InstaGrinch|* ". Its like in our young days "... but i saw it on TV!" only accelerated 100 times.
