Why have my call died in the shell on day 27?

so sorry to hear this - nothing more satisfying than seeing your little ducklings born after a month in the nest or incubator. My duck's first brood of 6 were brooded by her. When they hatched I counted 5 duckling and 1 egg missing. I assume she had pushed it out of the nest but later found a dead half hatched duckling in the straw. One is bad enough but all of them....

AW that's horrible about the half born hatching. But sometimes mommies know best, wonder if he had other issues that she knew about going on..

Aren't they adorable the way the follow mommy around. LOL

Thank you all I have got some more eggs now and they are laid down on there side and I'm turning them three times a day with O on one side and X on the other. I'm also sponging them and now have two humidity and temperature themometers.

PERFECT, you will have a much better hatching rate with them laying down. GOOD DEAL, stop turning them Four days before there due date and make sure the larger end is Slightly higher then the smaller end.. then three days before there due date, LOCK THEM DOWN.. WOO HOO

Thankyou, I will keep you all updated and hopefully there will be some duckling photos soon . Fingers crossed :)
