Hey all, this is my favorite chick Tip. She has always been the runt of the brood... much smaller than the other chicks but doing better since being seperated and fed extra grower. She is healthy though, lively, and fairly tame. Why is her head like this though? It looks like a vulture almost.

My husband still has not learned all my chicken's names, but there is one he has always called the vulture looking one. She looked much like yours for months. I don't know why, but her head was by far the very last bit of her body to feather in properly. Now to look at her you'd never know she was nearly bald for so long, but it was just a case of the head feathering in slowly/last.

Hmm, interesting thought. I always refer to her as the "vulture" one too! I'm not too worried, I've just never seen it before.

I have one chicken like that too! She was always small and her feathers look messed up. We call her the runt  She was like that when she was a chick and still like that today. She acts normal too and never gets picked on. I guess some are just like that.
