So we found out the other day that Mrs. W is going to have a little boy. My best friend and I have nicknamed him Blue until she names him. We're really excited for her. I think she is WAY excited because she's constantly telling us random stuff about him. The first time it was the babeque thing. Then it was that he's healthy and that when they did the ultrasound, he was really active and was sucking his thumb. Then the other day, she told me that their dog Lucy was their little baby. I guess she thought that sounded wird. I didn't notice the irony until she added, "At least for a while." Then, the very next class period, she told my best friend that she was shopping online for diaper bags. xP (P.S., she wasn't goofing off in class. It was a half day and most of our teachers didn't make us do a lot of work, so she had some free time.)
I'm starting to think maybe my friend and I aren't as goofy as we think around her, either. Or maybe we are. Either way, I think maybe she might actually like us. She asked me for my picture from Homecoming. Mrs. W. must not have been feeling too well, because she didn't come to the game, and I can tell she really wanted to. The other morning, I walked into her class, and the first thing she said was, "_____, I want pictures." I was kind of surprised she was talking to me, becaue I totally wasn't paying attention. It took me a minute to figure out that she was talking to me and that she was talking about Homecoming. Soon after, the bell rang, and I forgot all about that. I had to concentrate on the class, after all. When I went to bring my teacher my worksheet, though, she said, "So you wore the blue dress?" Obviously, in the middle of an English class, my head filled with verbs, participles, and gerunds, I had no clue what she was talking about. After a minute, though, I nodded, blushing a little. "Yeah." I replied. "Congratulations." She smiled warmly at me. "Well, I'd like pictures. Preferably some I can keep." She said. It was sweet.
Then, one day after Math class, we were walking to our last class of the day together. We saw Mrs. W. It was really weird, because she was on the side of the school opposite her classroom. Oh well. Who knows where she was off to. Anyway, we must have been looking at her expectantly, because she smiled right away, and said, "Hi, girls!" We smiled back. "Hi!" We answered. The rest of the way to class, we chattered excitedly about how great it was that she had said hello before we did. We'd been feeling awkward about always saying hello first. We figured after she said hello back, she'd be sitting there thinking how weird we were.
My friend heard Mrs. W and her teacher friend Mrs. G say, "There she is." One day and saw one of the ladies point at her one day. She also thought she heard my name. Would this be considered a good thing or a bad thing? I don't know. I really want Mrs. W to like me because she seems so nice, but...the way I act around her sometimes, I'd think she thinks I'm the stupidest kid on the planet.
