Why is my adult male duck honking??

I’ve not been able to find anything about this online, but my adult male Pekin who is healthy and normally sized and can make the normal male duck noise as well will sometimes make a weird noise that I can only describe as a “honk”. He opens his bill wider for the honk and it sounds almost like a low pitched buzzing (except made with vocal chords instead of how say a human would say “bzz” or “buzz”). None of the other ducks, male or female, have ever made this noise and I’ve tried and so far failed to record him making this strange noise, and I’ve found absolutely nothing online about ducks honking. I feel like it’s some behavioral thing but I’ve not been able to determine what this weird honking could be, can someone please help me understand my duck?

My drake makes a happy honk-whistle after he mates one of the girls. It kinda reminds me of a donkey’s heehaw. Is that what he is doing?

LOL agree with @cheezenkwackers 100% My drake whistles like a donkey after mating as well! It's a happy, excited noise they make!

It doesn’t exactly sound like a donkey, but I’m not sure of all the noises donkeys make so it could be that!! Thank you for your insight

I hear it too both my Runner drakes make the noise it’s hilarious!

The first time I heard it, it sort of concerned me until I noticed the pattern, and of course consulted BYC. It's sort of like a wheeze mixed with a donkey's bray.

It is funny! I think it means, “Hot dog, what a stud am I”!

And as they are making that noise their chest gets so big they lean over and walk super fast. It def means “Hot dog what a stud I am” lol
