Hi. I have a baby chick about 4 weeks old. 28 days to be exact. She/he either plucked it down or it just fell off from the front part of its crop. Is this normal?

Probably nothing to worry about.

What are you feeding it?

No. We don't really know where to get the feed, so we've been feeding it "Hulled millet."

any local feed stores around? it really needs the starter nutrients. millet wont give it everything it needs.
I know... But, I can't do anything right now. I don't have my driving license yet, my mom is out, my dad has a broken shoulder so he can't drive and my brother is still learning how to drive. I also don't know my way around the neighborhood, so if I went out alone, I would probably get lost. What can I do?

feather loss can be anything from improper diet to stress to them just rubbing up against stuff or parasites.

Could it be that it got its chest wet from the watermelon, then just ate a lot and pigged out? Like, maybe it stretched its crop out after eating the watermelon. Then the down stuck together and made it look like it was balding. Cause today, it looks lots better after night.
