Why is my one mallard duckling light brown?

This is someone's photographs of a light colored mallard, it doesn't really provide an answer, but it will be interesting to see if the duckling looks something like this as an adult, depending on if it's a drake or a hen.

Yes, I still have one of them. Unfortunately my other hen disappeared one day and I haven’t seen her since. I had seen a bobcat hanging around, and I think that’s what got her. I was heartbroken.

What do Snowy look like when ducklings? And how is you little Pekin?

The shaky Pekin is no worse, but no better everyday I cross my fingers hoping he is standing and not shaking... But no such luck yet.

It’s now smaller than the other Pekin too. (They had been the same size).

But I’m still trying!

Judging from the brown speculum, that mallard is chocolate. In Calls they call the color Nutmeg.
