Why is my rooster making a “barfing” sound?

My cockerel makes a grumpy gurgling sound, but it sounds normal enough to me. I just figured that cockerels/roosters are very vocal.
It doesn't sound like vomiting though - not to me anyway.
Is your cockerel's crop empty in the morning? Not too squishy?
He is a handsome one!

Does it sound sorta like growling?

Almost, but not quite. Just like a "mmmhhh oooorrrhhh" sound that he's a little agitated but not really. Like this morning when I was getting their food. He never does anything to me when he makes these sounds though. I equate it with the "oh bother" Eyeore sound. :D

I've heard them make all kinds of crazy sounds, some so scary it would make your skin crawl. :lau:gig:oops:

Well I could not catch the bird at all. He made the noise today but less so. I wonder if it because he ate a frog 2 days again?

By the way, I am pretty sure my cockerel is OK because he seems to have stopped making the barfing noise. Thanks all who answered this thread.

By grab them right, you mean grab both of their feet with one hand and embrace their body with the other?

I usually grab the whole body and hold like a foot ball. My boy is pretty big, so I have to adjust it accordingly. While I'm trying to hold him like a football so he can't flap I also turn my head away in case he gets any ideas. He has been pretty good about it.

Thanks. I have yet to grab and examine the cockeral, but I have concluded the occasional "barfing" noise is just normal. The
