Why is there a thump sound when my duck drinks water? Is this normal?

I just noticed this recently. She’s a years old now and this seems to have happened in just the last few days. Is this normal as ducks grow older or is she sick??

Well maybe what your hearing is just a normal thing for your duck. At this point maybe just observe her daily, but if your concerned then a good examination by a vet might be best.

If you can get a video of what your hear her doing that would help a lot.

My drake was making a clunking sound - especially after each hus (he husses a lot) and after trouble shooting everything including massaging his neck (& even a call to the vet who had no clue), I used VetRx in some water for him to drink (and he did) and rubbed it on his beak a couple times a day. He did not object and within about 3 -4 days he stopped it. I'll never know what It was I guess but I'm just happy he was ok. Maybe he had a virus or maybe he had something stuck in his throat and it needed to work its way down. Whatever, it resolved. I think healthy ducks get better fast with a little attention and a lucky guess.
Good luck
