Hes a 11 month old Barred rock, For sure male. And Say if I were to crack open 5 eggs, I bet if I was lucky 1 would be fertile Whats wrong with him!

I want to hatch babies from my coop, not the neighbors again.

I checked him 1 week ago. But hes very healthy looking. Feathers are in perfect shape.

Maybe hes a very late bloomer, He started crowing at 7 months.

How do you know they are not fertile?
You can't tell in the first few days after they are layed.

In a home flock the best way to tell if eggs are fertile would be for a broody hen to sit and incubate them.

Sorry guys Ive done both, Like I said, most likely if you where to crack my eggs open for like every 6th egg one might be fertile.

And I had a broody sit one 6 of my eggs, And not one formed, At day 12 I cracked them and they had no development.

I hate to say it, but I'd guess you need a different roo.

People can be sterile so i guess chickens can, too. Maybe that's not specifically his problem, but whatever it is, he's evidently not getting the job done, and he's plenty old enough.

You'd be an ideal home for all those people with accidental roos out there who don't want their roo eaten and can't keep him. Maybe you can find one or post that you want one here on BYC.
