Why so against EE?

I don't hate them I love them. I had two but the white one with gorgeous long feathers died whaaa! I also have ameraucanas. They are similar in temperment. All sweetie pies. I am gonna have to get some more EE's or breed some of my own. I like the variety of colors of eggs they lay.

I have both Ameraucanas and EEs. I love them both. False advertising by the hatcheries just really torques me.

Hi! "Easter Egger" is such a goofy made-up-by-a-hatchery term to me. It implies that a chicken could lay eggs colored like *easter eggs* --- when in reality it means 'we don't know what color egg it might lay'.
I have Ameraucana and 'other birds that lay blue/green eggs'(Green-Eggers), but no "Easter Eggers".

this is funny I just emailed a person selling "americanas" to ask if they were true or EE, here is the response I received!:

They are Americanna, not Araucanna. Easter Eggers is just a slang term for Americannas. Araucanna are pretty rare and don't have a tail , they don't have as good of fertility making them more difficult to breed.

sounds like he just wants to sell his birds..there is quite a difference. I have them both, and everyone is right, most of it begins at the hatcheries..

I agree that we should be going after the hatcheries for the problem and they are the ones causing it. All you have to do is go to a poultry 4-H and see the poor child whose bird was DQ becasue it was a EE, but some dishonest or confused breeder sold it to the unknowing parents as an Ameraucana or the hatchery that knew better doing the same thing. It's heart breaking.

I also own both and love both. I even have a broody EE hen that is setting on Muscovy eggs right now.

She is such a good girl!! Surprising as she is the more flighty of the EE girls!

I also have both and love both.

ETA: I originally bought the Ameraucana's for the blue eggs. I know you "could" get blue eggs from an EE, but for sure you get them with an Ameraucana.

what kind is this? the hatchary told me Araucanna. after reading this post i certainly do not want to be milrepresenting my chicken! Can someone tell me what it is... and is it a hen?

I absolutely love our EE's, in fact, one of them is our most tame chicken! They are friendly, and come in an array of different colors, as do their eggs! Yes, they are "mutts" but who cares? I've always been one for the underdogs anyway!!!
