Why we must be careful with our brooder lights.

This is the reason I never leave my animals in the house when I am gone, which isn't very often. I would hate for them to be trapped. I had the chicks in a brooder out in the barn last year. Feel sorry for the family.

I seem to recall seeing a "safer" heat lamp advertized in one of the poultry magazines?

I use the heat lamps, and I hate hate hate them. They are totally unsafe. I've had more than one FAIL at the part that holds the lamp onto the clamp. I now use wire to wire it on, but I worry about it still. Plus it makes it a pain to move the lamp up and down when you have it wired like crazy to something!
