Why we should NOT SSS!!! UPDATE!!!!!! She's HOME!

Laurie,
I will keep you and your dog in my prayers. I had a dog go missing, I am pretty sure someone took him and kept him until he was able to escape and come back home. Please keep us updated!

If she's friendly, I bet she's at somebody's house. Maybe make up some flyers to put up around the local gas stations and supermarkets (people have to get gas and groceries often). I hope somebody sees them and gives you a call.

I would be devastated if my Maggie was to get missing. I think I would have to check myself into the Psyche ward.

If she's been out in storms then she may have run far beyond where you think she could be, or she's hiding in someone's barn/garage. I'd still check the shelter in the nearest city in case the staffers aren't great in determining breed. She may also be in a hidey hole nearby too.

If she has shown up in a shelter further away it's possible breed rescue may know she's there. So that's why I suggested you get in touch with them. I know with Keeshond rescue any dogs in shelters get posted to the breed list and someone will go check on them. If it's a kill shelter they get sprung and someone fosters them.

Petfinder could help too. One Keesie male in NY went missing or stolen a while back. Over a year later he was found in central MA and reunited with his family because of Petfinder.

I hope you find her! Huskies can be such troublemakers.

Oh - try your neighborhood watch group too. The people that organize ours - in a rural area - send our emails to everyone when anyone has an animal missing.

We've decided that SSS isn't appropriate on BYC as it implies doing something illegal or dishonest. If someone is correctly and legally protecting their flock then there should never be a need to secretly hide the evidence.
