Why we should NOT SSS!!! UPDATE!!!!!! She's HOME!

Well, um...he could have at least told you he shot your dog. Sorry, but we tell every owner and give their dog ONE chance. After that, it's the owner's responsibility. We then tell the owner where to collect and how much they owe in damages if there were any.

I am sorry for your loss and hope that time will help heal some of your pain.

UPDATE!!!! I awoke to my Husky and Great Py barking at 4:20am. I thought they had to go out. When I opened the door, my Fiona ran into the house whining. All heck broke loose here!

After looking her over, I agreed with some of you that said you were sure that someone probably had her. That was until I was scratching her neck, and felt something attached to her collar. In all the commotion I never noticed it.

It was a note wrapped around her collar with a fishing stringer to hold it there. It said, "yer dog were in my trp srry"

So I'm assuming she was in someone's havahart trap because she doesn't have any injuries from a leg trap. If she was in a havahart trap, it probably saved her life. Our county, (Hawkins) is full of coyote and a neighbor not 5 miles away has lost 5 pygmy goats and 4 dogs to them. It's suggested where I live at night not to roam outside alone without a gun because they hunt in packs here.

I didn't go to bed until 2am. I'm figuring that the person with the trap went to check his traps around 4am, found her and released her. (Thank goodness)

Other than being tired and hungry, she's fine.

I want to thank everyone on BYC for their support. She, right now, is lying next to me, sound asleep. I've seen this community come together for alot of things. And some people may think I'm nuts to come unglued over a missing dog but I promised her the day I picked her up from the Mahoning Pound in Ohio 2 1/2 years ago that I would never let anything happen to her and I meant it.

Now as soon as dawn breaks, instead of looking for her, we can go collect her posters we put out.

Thank you again, BYC!

Laurie & Fiona!

Yeah - tears of happiness for you. (I have GOT to stop reading these at work) lol
What a lucky, lucky little girl you have there. I am so happy she is home with you.
Give her a HUGE hug for me, please.

Actually, it could have been a snare. If a dog gets into a snare, at least in my experience, and is used to a leash, rather than struggle like a wild animal will, oftentimes they will literally sit/lie there until the trapper comes to check the trap. Yes I trap and NO I do not speak like a hillbilly!!!

In regards to SSS, I would not shoot a neighborhood dog for "chasing" my chickens. I WOULD shoot a dog if it was attacking my family. In your case, had I found Fiona, I would have taken her in, loved her up, and checked around for her owner. I did that with a blck lab once and the owner came knocking a couple days later. "Girlfriend" was actually "Sissy" , and belonged to a 7 year old girl. A small piece of me was sad to see "girlfriend" go, but it was so heartwarming to see her get back with her people where she belonged, and I cried right along with the little girl when they were reunited!

Anyways, CONGRATULATIONS on getting your dog back! I am so happy for you

One thing to consider - I got a basset hound from the pound and they automatically put a tracking chip in the dog in case it gets lost, this might be something for you to consider for your dogs.
