why won't my ducklings follow me :(

I find they are more likely to follow you after a bit of time outside. I open the pen and have a pink dollar store net which I wave behind them. They go in a line to wherever I direct them to. Once outside they sit in the grass by me. I find they will sit close to you if you are sitting on the ground. Then when you get up they generally will follow you but if not the net waving works very well!

I have 5 ducks and 3 geese and as much as they are used to being with each other I spend a lot of time with them so they get to know me as momma.
