Why?!?

My silver spangled hamburg lays classic egg shaped eggs, my leghorn lays the exact same, but fatter. So I can easily tell them apart. The gold spangled hamburg, lays cream colored eggs... so hers are easy to tell too. Still waiting for the rest to lay.

have you cracked any open yet? my hen doesn't always lay an oblong egg, but when she does it has 2 yolks!
I have, only single yolkes☹️. We get jumbo sized eggs from our older buff orphington and I always get eggsited ( see what I did there lol) when I crack open her eggs thinking I might get a double, but I never get so lucky

I have a hen named Dot that does that. I can always tell which egg is Dot's and another hen always lays almost ping-pong ball-shaped eggs. My mom worked in an egg-sorting factory when she was younger and they typically sort those eggs out. Those get sent off to bakeries who go through so many eggs they don't care what shape they are.

One of My barred rock hens always lays a torpedo shaped egg, has never been a double yolker. The other barred hen lays a nice oval brown egg, like the pullet egg, one of the Buff hens has periodically laid an elongated egg. haven't cracked it yet to see if it is a double yolker. They are long enough it is hard to close a large egg carton on them. Still great eating.:D
