Why won't the hens use the beautiful nests I built them???
We are only on egg 5 from my eight chickens, so I am hoping they are just new to this, and haven't figured out what those cozy little boxes are for.
I bought some old glass eggs on ebay for teaching chickens what to do, so far they are uninterested in education.

Anyone ever have chickens who never use their nests?

My chickens are using a recycling bin with plywood on top. It was an emergency next box until the coop was done. Now I've put their original nest box back in the coop and they won't use it! I guess it is not as private as it used to be--they are so fickle!

Try posting a pic of your situation, or describe it, and maybe we can give you some ideas. Do you have straw in it?
