WI have a sick duckling. Please help

Quote:
IM injections are most commonly given in the pectoral muscles located on either side of the keel bone. Due to the renal shunt of birds, where blood in the lower part of the G.I and caudal extremities may pass directly through the kidneys prior to being filtered by the liver, it is recommended that injections be given in the upper two thirds of the birds’ breast muscling. These muscles also contain a higher number of capillaries making aspiration before giving the injection even more important.

Leaving the vet now. She has a temp. of 106.7 They said she has internal infection. They are giving me 7 days of injections to give her in her leg. They cant say where or what the infection came from. They said she should be fine in a few days. Yeah:). Thank you everyone for all your help and suggestions. I am eternally grateful to all of you.

I bet baytril would have help just as well.

Thank you. I was kinda questioning the response she was having. Her leg that the vet put the injection in is REALLY hot and she now has no movement or use of that leg at all. I tried to call and ask if this was a normal reaction but they were closed. I am definately going to call tomorrow before I give her the next injection. The Dr did say to give the injections in opposite legs everyday. Does that sound right?

If u know how to let me know. No offense to everyone else trying to help. My main concern is my duck Bonnie. I just want answers. She looks sooo healthy ..just can't walk. I just want her to be healthy again. Kathy, my email is [email protected] let me know how to speak to you.

I question that first if I recall she was having leg issues you JUST got that problem solved now it seems like the problem is back but worst. I'm sorry i just don't thing injections should be the way to go. But that's just my opinion.he could have giving some baytril to give orally They give this stuff to cats dogs and even bunnies, not sure why he felt injections were the way to go.
