I like names that have meaning behind them but I don't care for names that are made up or just odd spellings of more common names.
My boys have Scots-Irish names because that is their heritage. Their middle names are also family names. Ian Farrell is our oldest and Farrell is also my husband's middle name. I wanted to spell it Iain, but I didn't want him to have to explain how to pronounce it his whole life (turns out we have to explain it a fair amount anyway so I wish I had just gone with the original spelling). Tavis Glenn is our youngest and Glenn was my Grandfather's first name. Tavis means Son of David in the area of Ireland my husband's family is from (David is my husband's name).
