Now my dad had told me he went to school with a girl named Crystal Shanda Lear.
I went to grade school with a girl named Tina Michelle. Her younger sister was named Michelle Tina.
The Taylor brothers I knew all had the same middle name: Matthew Allen, Christopher Allen, Eric Allen.
A girl I went to junior high with was Kandy Korn.
A friend of mine from high school married and her last name became 'Brown'. Named her daughter Amber (Brown). I just couldn't believe it.

. . . I went to school with a girl named Shanda Leer (it must be a more popular name than I thought), and a boy named Jeep Cherokee. It was funny . . . I'd gone through grade school with him, so I never thought his name was odd until 8th grade, when a substitute teacher threatened to send him to the office if he wouldn't tell her his real name . . . I guess she'd lost the roll call sheet or something. Eventually the teacher in the next room was called in to confirm his identity. I don't blame her for not trusting him. He was enjoying himself and acting for all the world like he was giving her a fake name. While in high school, I met a Grr and a Z. I kinda like the idea of naming someone one letter of the alphabet, actually. I get tired of scrawling out my name on checks all the time.

Rooster is a fairly common name where I grew up, though Rabbit is an even more common name. Just to round out the barnyard, I'll throw in a very close friend who happens to be named Goat for no apparent reason.

My Aunt was named Barbie (yes, just Barbie, not Barbara), and she actually shares the same birthday as the doll. My grandparents are innocent in all this, it's just a neat coincidence that gets neater during my aunt's high school and college years, when she dated and was briefly engaged to a man named Kenneth Dolly. I could not make something that ridiculous up.

my real name is Rhandi. (sounds like randy!) as a child, every year the teacher would do roll call when school started. when my name was called, i would raise my hand. same reply every year...'No, dear, we're looking for a little boy.' like i would be confused on my own name. haa.

also, when i introduce myself to people, they often correct me:
hi, nice to meet you, i'm rhandi...
you mean brandi?
you mean sandy?
you mean candy?

um, after you are 3 years of age, you pretty much know your own name!

alas, it has worked wonders because when someone calls us and asks for Ra han dee, we know they are selling us something. so, maybe my dad was wrong, but it turned out right!

Harley's girl :

Our county commissioners name is Dorcas. Pronounced just as you see it. And my cousin went to school with a Dippty. She was a very sweet girl. My family nicknamed her dimples she liked that much better than Dippty.

Dorcas is a biblical name if I'm not mistaken. Still wouldn't use it, but thought I'd throw that in. My DH and I spent a lot of time and effort in naming out kids. We worked hard at not giving other rotten kids a reason to abuse them. I can't imagine naming a child a joke name. So incredibly mean. I worked with a guy who's wife's maiden name was Bunn; her parents named her Honey. I thought that was bad enough.

My family in law all work in the hospital in and around labour and devilery, so I hear these stories all the time.

My wife seriously had a college classmate whose first name was "Vagina". Her mother thought it was such a pretty name. Not from Oklahoma like the above poster but from West Virginia. She just told people to call her Virginia.

I know a man named Richard Lick.

I know a lady named Mary Christmas.

I know a young lady named Kandace Kane.

Then there was Susan Snow and she married David Flake. True story. Everywhere she went people would say, here she comes.
