Tiger again. She is easier to get pictures of.

A couple days ago my neighbors called, explaining that there were chickens in their yard! I went over to investigate and found two pretty gold laced wyandottes (Atleast I think that's what they are!) Any ideas on what to do? Should I try to catch them? Leave them? Are they too old to lay...? The rest of the family doesn't really want to have anything to do with them, although if they would be giving eggs, maybe? I don't know what to do! all advice appreciated!
(I'll try to get a picture of them at some point)
Well first off how would anyone know if their still laying eggs until they are gotten and given a coop to go into

I didn’t finish it clicked somehow.. their age can only be determined by a vet and he then can only estimate.. it’s really the people that found them in their yard responsibly but if u feel u need to step in that is very nice of u.. I do not believe in killing chickens that are pets they are a member of the family just like a dog or cat becomes a member I have these same chickens at my home I would give anything if I could have them.. good luck

They look beautiful.

This is a very common tactic and probably one you already know but I’ll say it anyway. Think of a particular snack you think they would like. Every time you give them that snack whistle in a very specific way that it only pertains to the time you give them that snack and no other time. If ever they get out or any of your other hens, do that same whistle and they will come running to you.

Here are some pics. Not the best, but I didn't want to bother them into moving somewhere else.
If you already have chickens in your yard you will want to take care that these chickens don't get near them as they have some diseases you don't want your flock to get. I would put some seed somewhere near the neighbor's yard which will keep the chickens around for a while. Then you will have time to convince your family to take them in. You will need to have somewhere to quarantine these birds for a good thirty days. Good luck.

If you are able to catch them, you could try to feel between the two bones near the vent. If they are far apart, at least two fingers width, they may start laying soon, if not, they probably just aren't ready yet.

We caught them a couple days ago! They are safe at our house and are currently being quarantined. Yes, they are BEAUTIFUL!!! I was thinking of feeling between their legs, but they hate being touched/held. I mean... I guess I'll find out when they lay. (or don't lay... but I think they're young)
I tried teaching my nine pullets to come when they were younger... they are way out of practice now! The nine girls used to know, though! I guess I'll try teaching the nine, and the two new wyandottes again!
