Sunshine Flock
Crowing
I've now trapped nine Carr Fire cats. One is being reunited with her family this coming weekend. They had to move back home to Alaska when they lost their home. It took many late nights parked in my truck and waiting for the sound of the trap snapping shut to bring Bella's rescue to a close.
Two wonderful black kitten sisters are in a foster home now, and Thomas the Wonder Boy is going to his foster home today.
Scruffy, an adorable fluffy black kitten, is recovering nicely from his burned paws. He has singed whiskers and fur and was scary thin. But he's regaining weight quickly. We'll probably adopt him if we don't find his family. We have a matching five month old black fluffy doppelgänger for him to grow up with.
Henry is amazing, as are Smokey and Bear, semi-feral bonded brothers. Pete the Self-rescued Cat, who ran up to me out of the burned out rubble of someone's home when I opened a can of tuna, is a spunky but loving guy.
They're all so wonderful and are working nicely together as a group.
And someone else came forward yesterday and contacted me about his missing cat. He saw him a week ago in a culvert and has been leaving food. But big machinery and lumberjacks are moving into the area, doing lots of brush clearing and tree removal. So we're worried he'll get scared and leave. I set up a camera and am praying I'm able to trap him soon and reunite him with his family.
All of this to say . . .
We may not be able to keep our home because of the lower pay my husband will probably be getting when he finds a new job. But for now at least I do have a home, and so do these rescued fire cats.
Oh, and yes. When I mentioned Henry, I meant Henry the Cat. He looks like a Henry and couldn't be named anything else. He doesn't have feathers, just fur and whiskers and paws.
Cheers.
