Wildfire evacuation

Thank you. A lot more than the birds and half the dogs were lost, truthfully. I also left behind a cow, 2 of the goats I could not get loaded, and my cat. I did open all of the pens before I fled, so can always hope for the best! But, it being the middle of the night and everything, I doubt the birds made it.

sigh.
big hugs

Sunshine, your presence of mine in the face of such terrible circumstances is amazing. I'll join many others here in watching your updates. Heart-felt best wishes to you.

ShannonR, there are not words enough to say what we all feel for you. What is sure is that you were spared, which is a huge blessing. Stay safe.

Just finished reading a story on one of the news feeds about the retired Marine that borrowed a stock trailer from where he worked and was rescuing horses from the area and transporting them to an evacuation site.

Renews my faith in my fellow man when I read these kind of stories.

What a horrifying situation. My thoughts and prayers are with you and ShannonR.

God bless our firefighters. We've had several terrible fires burn near us, and what the firefighters risk to save our loved ones, homes, pets, and livestock brings tears to my eyes.

Ron could we have a place to post for people needing help with their chickens? I can take some in at my place in Stockton.
Maybe @sumi could set something up on the home page in the feature section?

I actually have a second run and coop that could be used by other chickens as well. I am in the Oroville foothills, much closer to the fire than Stockton! The run could be used for a dog as well. I have a fenced off "chicken free range" area that perhaps a goat could use?
