You know, I was wondering why she would be laughing alone. I would laugh alone, but I wondered if maybe she had an instigator, and she did: you!!!

Yes, we are each other's instigators. We've gotten into a bit of trouble over the years - mostly with our husbands. Like the time she was tired of the deer head hanging in her basement so she (with my help) hung it in his shop door. Not bad, except that he had to climb a ladder to get into his shop a the time, so when he got to the top of the ladder and opened the door, there was a deer head hanging there! (No, he didn't fall off the ladder, but he may have had to go in and change.)

For anyone needing animal evacuation assistance for the Carr Fire, this is the group that rescued Henry and his flock today: Cowboy 911. It looks like they're talking about assisting with other fires, too.

Ha!! Nuclear explosion training. You've got me laughing out loud!! Wait, maybe that wasn't funny and I'm not supposed to laugh??? I can be socially inappropriate at times.

Yup - it was funny! And I remember being told that, once you're in that ditch, don't stick your head up out of it until you've felt the shock wave come back over you from the other direction, to save yourself from the worst of the initial radiation exposure ... and I distinctly recall my brother saying that he was going to stand up in the middle of it so he would go quickly, because the long-term effects pictures were so awful. Zheesh ... the things they taught us ... and the things we remember. It scared the living daylights out of us, then, so I'm REALLY glad it's so funny, now. Makes me wonder what nonsense we're scaring our kids with, today. I'm sure they'll be laughing at US just as hard!

Yup. yup. My Mom and Aunt took us all out to get snowsuits. They were thinking ahead to the coming cold and were afraid we'd be without heat all winter.
I know it's a bit early, but we all need to do the same thing for California and the wildfire survivors. The emergency is now, so we're all up in arms and anxious to help, but the trials will keep coming over the next year, as they struggle to recover and rebuild. The need for help will continue, it's face will just change. We need to keep the aid and support - and the prayers - going forward, long after the fires are ashes, dust and memories.

I wanted to thank you for offering to let Henry and the gang stay on your farm. That was so generous of you, and I was earnestly trying to figure out how to get them from Redding to Stockton.

It ended up being too far to coordinate, but you really lifted my spirits when you gave me this option. Thank you!!

Showing my age here; we had 'atomic bomb safety drills'. Even more useless, but it made everyone feel better, or something.

Yes, I'll get them back once we're cleared to return home and we determine whether I'll be able to handle the smoke.

I'm so glad they didn't end up in a large chicken pen with Henry lookalikes. I'm not sure I'd be able to pick him out from 50 other Henries!!

I'm concerned that the smoke will not be something you can handle. I'm in the foothills above Oroville (Lake Oroville is my view), and we have less than 3 mile visibility. Our air quality and Chico's as well is "Unhealthy" right now. Unless the wind comes in and blows it away, it's not going to be good for you.
