Wildfire evacuation

Pics
I have 4 backyard hens and have evacuated them twice during fire warnings here in N. California. I have metal folding fencing and 4 medium sized dog crates and a large metal folding dogcrate. We evacuated to a Costco parking lot (bathrooms available). I assembled the dog crate, covered it with a tarp and made a day run with foldable fencing, and a large tarp thrown over everything. It was passable, but I'm going to invest in a portable Eglu (from Omlet) for next time. They are made in England and a bit pricey but worth it for peace of mind as fire season approaches once again.

Costco parking lot (bathrooms) is brilliant!

Where in Nor Cal? We are in West Redding and have been evacuated enough to make it almost normal...:th

I just invested in those cardboard pet carrier thingies - enough for all the birds. WE can evacuate to the fairgrounds, and I have 2 friends who have property. We all agreed that if any of the other 2 get evacuated, they can bring their animals to our respective places. Bu the day run is a great idea! I may invest in that, too. And I could see it being handy in any number of circumstances beyond just evacuation. Thanks for the idea!

Prayers for all our peeps up where you are @Aunt Angus. I know what it is like when we are looking at a hurricane and I assume a wild fire must be similar. You sound like you have a great plan in place. Let us know how you are doing when you can relax and take a moment. In the mean time, take care of you and your's. :love:fl

I am in Santa Barbara and we get lots of of evacuations also, so I just keep dog crates and load up my 10 chickens into them, but I saw somebody mentioned wire fencing and tarps, I also have that so next time I will bring up the folded wire fencing and tarps that’s actually made for dog pens.
