Non grumpy owl... not exactly a wildlife photo though.

That's me and my husband with him. His owner kind of dumped him on us and ran off to play with the explosives that the science dept was playing with.

Wow, he's so beautiful! Such a lovely little barn owl!
Your costumes are great, by the way!

He's a Eurasian barn owl (smaller than the American ones) and male so he's about the smallest barn owl you'll see around here (females are a lot larger than males). He's a sweet heart. That was a school function, my husband teaches history so we were there in costume representing the history dept and I ended up holding that owl for about 3 hours because his dad ran off... not that I minded. He was there so people could look at him and pet him. A lady almost started crying when I asked if she wanted to rub him, apparently she absolutely loves owls and never thought she would be able to touch one.

Aww. He really is beautiful!

The skinny ones are bookmarks. The horses are wild mustangs in NV.

Wow did you take all these?
Yes. Different states. The birds and hummers in the backyard. Gulls Calif coast, eagle WA state, hawk on a back road in Calif. Peacock & bobcat at Folsom City zoo sanctuary (the bobcat was superimposed onto a shot of the grand canyon :)).

A pair of Welcome Swallows have made a nest at our place and their 3rd batch of chicks has just fledged. I adore Swallows and love having them around the place.

Welcome Swallows blew over to New Zealand from Australia and have become naturalised here.

One little chick was sitting just outside the window so I was able to snap a photo of it, and one of its parents making a flying visit to feed it before dashing off again.
