will a chicken hatch out quail eggs?

I have 5 Mama Hens that go broody relentlessly. I was wondering if anyone has tried putting quail eggs under chicken ? Would that even work??

Yes. A broody hen will hatch out any egg they can sit on without crushing.

I used to use my granny's chickens to hatch out duck and geese eggs.

I think it's not recommended because the eggs are actually small enough to get crushed. If you have extra quail eggs you might as well try it, don't mix chicken and quail eggs, and remember they need game bird starter when hatched.

Might work with a small breed, bantam, Serama, etc...large fowl will definitely crush the eggs.

I used a Silkie hen to hatch 8 quail eggs and never again. She didn’t crush the eggs but couldn’t keep up with the tiny chicks and even lost one. I immediately pulled them and brooded them myself.
