Will a chicken sit on a wire?

LOL, re: Poop on a bench seat.
I figured it's a given she will sit in it. I was pondering more along the lines of her buddies not pooping on my beloved DIL's shoulders (kind of like a little safety zone). Also, I am planning (if I'd only follow through with all my good intentions...😇) on painting a little artwork on the backside (of the bench, 😉not my daughter's derrière) backrest. Without a bit of protection, I don't believe it would be visible in a week. You know how chickens love their abstract art! I know how about I gift wrap a putty knife with a string attached. I will add it to the gift basket of silliness I've put together. So, she can tether it to the bench and scrape the seat off as need be.

I know some folks store lawn chairs upside down on the run,
then flip them over for a clean seat when they visit.

That's what I do.

The chickens like to perch on the legs and hide under the upside-down seats and they're clean when I want to use them.

Somewhere on here I reviewed a coop/run combo someone built where they put in a log bench with a hinged section that provided a clean seat when opened.

It would probably work for the one spot but they’re definitely going to get up and poop on the bench despite the efforts.

In my experience a chicken definitely CAN perch on a wire if there’s something there that they want. I have grape vines that are supported with horizontal wire support system, like 8-10 gauge galvanized wire. Many times I’ve found chickens somehow balancing on that thin wire while pecking at the grapes. No idea how, but they do. Amazing balance I suppose.
