Will an Ideal 236 chicken breed true?

Have you called Ideal and asked them? They are very helpful on the phone.

Very good egg layers. You will have to cull all of the hens the same age once they reach 1.5 to 2 years of age. Then rotate in new stock. Once your new birds reach 1 year of age, you will have to collect eggs from the older birds and hatch enough eggs to replace the older layers in six months ( the hatched chicks will be laying your eggs). Cull any birds that are not productive- only use the productive birds as breeders.

I think the birds are using the protein in the feed to keep warm when the temperature gets low and this slows egg production. The stress of trying to keep warm during the cold and snow decreases the egg production. I believe the extra carbohydrates in the corn reduces the stress.

I agree, I give bread a few days a week and have noiticed if I stop with this they slow their laying. Alot of truth said for the carbohydrates. Mike

I was looking for some additional information on the 236 and couldn't find it on the Ideal site.

Anybody know where i could find info like average weight, average egg production, feed to egg conversion ratio etc.??

What I want to do is compare the Hyline 36 with the Ideal 236.

Sorry I am still a skeptic, did you talk to the phone person or a person actively involved in the breeding program?

I would just be really surprised if they had a high production bird that wasnt a Hybrid that was sex linked through feather sexing.

Not saying it isnt true just saying it would be a big surprise.

If a manager answered in that way it certainly adds validity, but just seems so unlikely to me. I hope you understand I am not being difficult it is just that I find so many companies unwilling or unable to find correct answers.

Please dont take my skepticism as an affront to the answer you got from them.

I bet if you called and led them to beleive you were interested in getting in the layer business and looking for a few thousand chicks you would quickly get answers to all of your questions regarding feed conversion etc etc.
