Will Belle be a good mother??

It just occurred to me that the best way to break her broodiness is to take advantage of many people who want a broody hen to incubate random bought eggs.

Sell her for a high price as a guaranteed broody hen, keep the money don't spend it, because in no time at all they'll want to return Belle, no longer broody, demanding their money back. Cheap solution for you, get someone else to do it.

I would give her some fertile eggs, that is normally the best way to break a broody hen. It will give her something to do and focus her energies on. If she does not go the whole way then all you have lost is the eggs and she will stop being broody which is what you folks wanted anyway...

And in any case if she actually hatches the little bitties then you would be able to answer you question from the title of the thread "Will Belle be a good mother". I'm sure she will do just fine, and if still aggressive it will probably be replaced with protection for her offspring. Good luck with whatever you decide...
