will chickens drink from a hanging water bottle?

Very cool! I was just looking at your waterers, actually.

I've used Black Creek Poultry's waterers and they worked very well!!! I would recommend them

Tell me about it! These things are amazing, I just ordered another 12, 6 push-ins, 6 threaded. I'm actually headed to TSC here in East Syracuse to talk to them about at least carrying the nipples. They've got the ones for hogs/calves-let's get the ones for chickens! I figured with chick days finally here, I might actually get somewhere.

You know, they've got the pvc pipe, they've got the buckets, if they got the nipples, they could actually sell the components for the line waterers that you could use in a coop or run. Or just keep it simple with 3 nipples in a bucket. But they've got everything you need to make whatever kind of waterer that would fit your situation. Am I making sense at all?? LOL

isn't there a wet, messy area under the nipple or the rabbit bottles? I like the idea of clean but though the excess would make a mess on the bottom.

Nope, not unless it is installed incorrectly or the plastic gets soft. I used a milk jug out in the run and the sun made it soft, one day I walked out there and noticed a huge puddle. Felt the milk jug and the nipple popped out! So, heavier plastics are the way to go outdoors and you can cheap out and use milk jugs for the brooder.

The minute and I mean minute amt. of dribble you get when the chickens peck at it, dries very quickly! There has never been a problem in my coop and we're going on a year now. Love them!

IMO the rabbit bottles are very leaky. I just went and looked at my rabbit's bottle and it is much more free flowing than a nipple and it seems to leak more. It could just be that bottle though.

Okay so for going on 2 weeks now they have not touched the rabbit bottle! I had to put a small bowl underneath it with water in it and every time I change their water (frequently) I tap on it to get their attention... Nada!!!
