Will chickens help my depression?

I don't let them freerange as yet, as I am too scared that as soon as I open the run door they will leg it into the forest at the back of the property and I will never see them again. What I am doing is trying to let them get used to the coop and small are underneath the coop for a few weeks, and I am building a small fenced off area in front of that so they will then be able to go into that for a little while as well. Then, and only then, will I open the gate from that, to let them out to freerange.

When they do, if they do, they will have an acre of our back garden to play in, and a forest of a few acres, and about 5 acres in next doors field where he keeps his horses. So loads of room for them to roam, but I don't know whether I will be able to risk letting them do it. I don't want to see them kicking up dust running into the sunset.

That was so funny I was like laughing for 10 minutes about the part where there kicking up dust and running into the sunset
That was super funny !!!!!

DITTO ABOVE from someone who knows! They are 'your' thing and a reason to get up in the morning as well as being great fun and heartlifting xx

Im making garlic prawns later, and it turns out that the chooks can have all the leftovers (like there will be any

), including the garlic butter.

While I was looking I found there was such an issue as to what a prawn was and what a shrimp was. But, having a long history of catching and eating both, I think I have been able to shed a little light on this one, so I started a thread to try to help alll those who want to know.

I've food processed the shells and heads left over from shrimp dinners and have fed it to my chickens as high calcium treats, and they love it!

This is a nice thread. I am glad I read through it! My chickens started out as a small flock. Now I have more that 200 I think...plus ducks, geese, guineas and quail. I LOVE my birds! IT is hard to take care of them now because it is below zero here (F) and everything is frozen; but they are so happy to see me every day and that lifts my spirits!
I dont think they are the cure all for depression but they certainly help; and what helps more is having all of the wonderful like minded people with chickens themselves. I have met so many friends just because I have connected with then through chickens!
Good luck To all of you and your "therapy" birds!

My wife and decided to end our relationship last night. The depression had got its claws in.

But, I awoke to find an email from my wife saying "I won't leave you babe. I love you too much. You need to ket me help you all i can.
At the end of this you'll love me much more or hate me. Eh to me it's worth the risk! Let's try & get this sorted."

I thought we should keep trying and we decided to keep it going. After all we do love each other.
