I had never heard of or seen a detached air-cell until I was reading a message on here the other day... Just candled my shipped duck eggs at 13 days and I see that there are three out of eight that have an irregular shape that must be what people are talking about. It looks like the eggs are all developing. Do you think it will be a problem hatching those with a detached air cell? I sure hope not. : (

This entire hatch had detached air cells. I kept them upright in cartons for the first several days and often let them sit upright as part of the turning. By eighteen days the air cells were fixed and they're hatching, if not normally with help. I had a temp spike a week ago to 134, I expected no hatch, I'll take hatching problems.

While detached air cell eggs should be handled carefully they can and do hatch.
